As we all know, the venerable pretzel has played a significant role in German and German-American food culture for a long time – but where did it come from originally? We sent our top researchers on a daring quest to find the truth (involving about three minutes on the Internet) and discovered that the invention of the Breze – or Brezel or Brezn, among other regional variations – is actually credited to various sources. Obviously, we’re sticking with the story that German monks were the first pretzel-bakers, but regardless of who really invented it, we’re just glad they did!
(drum roll, please…)
So, in honor of National Pretzel Day, Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe is excited to announce that we will be giving away one small Bavarian pretzel with any other purchase to each of our first 500 guests tomorrow, April 26! Guten Appetit!
