With our 14th anniversary approaching, we could not be more excited that we took home 6 awards from Seminole Magazine’s 10th Annual Best of Seminole Restaurants. We would like to thank our leadership team, staff and of course, our wunderbar guests for voting for us! This year in particular is special since our very own chef, Patrick Story, was selected as the county’s best chef. This is an huge honor for a well deserving individual. Here is what Seminole Magazine had to say about our favorite chef:
Chef Patrick Story is a winner. The man at the culinary helm of Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Café in historic downtown Sanford was voted into the top three in 2014. This year, readers voted him—and Willow Tree—as number one: Best Chef and Best Area Restaurant.
Story trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Orlando and, after a stint at one of the area’s top banquet venues, came to the Willow Tree. In this family-owned restaurant (established by Linda and Theo Hollerbach), he found kindred spirits and a true culinary home. “We respect food, and it’s my life—it’s our life,” Story says. “It’s how we make our living, so [we’ve] got to respect it.”
His approach to food and the Willow Tree kitchen is a combination of preparation and homemade goodness. “We have [cooking] stations, but I don’t like to have a fry guy or a grill guy. I like cooks who can cook everything,” he says. “We’re a big team, a big family. We take care of each other.”
